TWO OF Galway’s leading indie-rock bands - Lost Chord and Disconnect 4 - will take to the stage of Monroe’s Live tonight for the Galway Hospice Charity Night concert.
Disconnect 4 - Leon Butler (vocals/synth ), Yvonne Ryan (bass ), Eoin Reilly (guitar ), and Keith McCafferty (drums ) - will headline the night.
The band play stylish and atmospheric new wave, as heard on their very fine EP Modern Love. They have been busy this year recording a live 2FM session with Dan Hegarty, a session with Muzu.tv, another with BBC Northern Ireland, and for an appearance on TG4.
Lost Chord staked a claim to be the most exciting and creative band in Galway at the moment with the launch of their debut EP There Is No Lost Chord in January.
The band, led by vocalist/guitarist Dave Phelan, and featuring Eoin O’Reilly (guitar ), Yoseph Sheridan (drums ), Darren Nestor (bass ), and Aiden Mulderry (synth ) - play music which ranges from hard rock (‘Cheats’ ), to indie pop (‘Up North’ ), to Afro Beat (‘You Do Not Do’ ) to thunderous Krautrock (‘Ronald and Nancy’ ).
Always a thrill live, the band are natural entertainers and it is not uncommon to see Dave (still playing guitar ) hoisted onto Eoin’s shoulders as Eoin runs around the stage and venue floor.
The concert is to raise money for the Galway Hospice Foundation and raise awareness of the Cycle to Africa fundraiser, which will see five Galwegians - actor Eoin Geoghegan, poet Stephen Murray, student Andrew Hassett, hairdresser Ryan Skelton, and artist Roisin Coyle - cycle from Galway to Casablanca over four weeks.
Doors open at 9pm and admission is €10. There will also be a live set from Kieran O plus special guests.
