Terry Pratchett novel takes to the Town Hall stage

MEN AT ARMS, the comedy-fantasy Discworld novel by Sir Terry Pratchett, will be performed as a stageplay by Croi8 productions in the Nuns Island Theatre on Friday May 28 and Saturday 29 at 8pm.

Law enforcement is no easy task in the medieval city of Ankh-Morpork, where assassination is legal and thieves are licensed. Ankh-Morpork's City Watch, who make The Keystone Cops look like The Sweeney, serve a general public made up of humans, dwarves, trolls, and the undead.

The Patrician, the city’s dictator, has brought the first non-human recruits into the Watch to improve policing and promote civic tolerance. However, Ankh-Morpork's new look Men at Arms are confronted with a series of bizarre murders that threaten to plunge the city into anarchy.

These crimes have been committed by a new type of weapon known as the Gonne. The Men at Arms find themselves up to their necks in a conspiracy where the finger of guilt points equally towards clowns and assassins.

Men At Arms has been adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs. It is directed by Alex Perry and produced by Maria Anastacia Keogh.

Tickets are €12/10 and are available from the Galway Arts Centre (091 - 565886 ) or on the door. The royalties to stage this play will be given to the Orangutan Foundation.
