New 2010 Mazda6 goes on sale here

The current Mazda6, which has been on sale here since January 2008, has established itself as a credible and alternate choice for customers in a very competitive segment with some major names like Passat, Avensis and Mondeo.

Now Mazda is introducing a 2010 model Mazda6 with an entry level price of €26,485 (ex-works ), and the Irish distributor says the new design “offers an even more sophisticated appearance”.

It claims to offer a sportier exterior with a higher quality interior. Mazda further says that ride comfort, handling and noise, vibration, and harshness have been greatly improved.

It is available in four specification grades: Executive, Executive SE, Sport and Z-Sport.

Power improvements to the new Mazda6 include a enhanced diesel engine. The 2.2L diesel engine is now available in 129 and 180bhp power outputs. The 129bhp version now has a smaller turbo charger that reduces turbine inertia to enhance response and optimise torque. It also offers lower CO2 emissions and it now falls into road tax band B at €156 annual fee.

The Mazda6 has a Euro NCAP rating of five stars which the new Mazda6 has inherited. New safety features include emergency stop signal which warns cars behind of sudden braking manoeuvres by automatically flashing the hazard lights rapidly. In addition standard safety equipment on all models includes dynamic stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD, and front, side and curtain airbags.

Finally, fuel economy has improved by about seven per cent, while performance has been improved at the same time.
