Jojo Hynes - exploring corners normally passed by

OUTSIDER, the new exhibition of paintings and photographs by the Tuam born artist Jojo Hynes opens in the Town Hall Theatre Gallery tomorrow at 6pm.

Notions of place, identity and youth culture, community and belonging, influence Jojo’s photography, painting, wall painting, and collage, and these are themes explored in her exhibition.

“Many of the works document recreational sites used by those with the least power - the alleyways and parks used by the youth and the homeless, those with nowhere else to go, when public places become private spaces for different groups and individuals. I explore the corners that are normally passed by,” she says.

Jojo graduated from Galway Mayo IT in 2005 with a BA honours degree in fine art. She went on to complete a post graduate diploma in community art at NCAD in 2009. She has exhibited in Ireland, Britain, and Australia.

All are welcome to the launch. The exhibition runs until June 7. See also www.jojo.ie
