THE SAW Doctors will play a one-off, intimate, concert at Kelly’s Bar, Bridge Street, on Wednesday June 2, with all proceeds going to the internet magazine, 48 Hours.
48 Hours was the brainchild of Galway photographer Reg Gordon, who gathered a group of journalists, photographers, and designers - including Michael Reidy of the Galway Advertiser production department - to produce the magazine in just 48 hours in late March.
An excellent magazine, it contained feature articles; interviews with Gugai of the Róisín Dubh, DJ Kit Kola, the Galway City Council’s Gary McMahon, artist Aideen Barry, etc; and stunning photography of life in and the sights of Galway city. It can be viewed at http://issuu.com/48hours/docs/48hours
Reg is now interested in bringing out a physical edition of 48 Hours and The Saw Doctors have agreed to help by putting on the concert. The funds from this gig will go towards the printing costs.
At the show, the Docs will showcase the 11 songs to be featured on their upcoming studio album. The as yet untitled new album was recorded in Rockfield Studios in Wales, and Grouse Lodge Studios in Westmeath, under the direction of producer Philip Tennant. It will be released through Shamtown Records in late August.
There are only 200 tickets available for the concert. Tickets are €15 including booking fee and are available from Zhivago Records, Shop Street, and from Ticketmaster outlets.
