Louis de Paor to read at Sheridan’s

THE POETS Louis de Paor, Chris Agee, Chris Nikkel, Kevin O’Shea, and Marcella Morgan will read from their work at Sheridan’s Wine Bar on Friday May 7 at 8pm.

Corkonian Louis de Paor has been a leading figure in the renaissance of poetry as Gaeilge since 1980 when he was first published in the poetry journal Innti which he subsequently edited.

He has won the Seán Ó Ríordáin/Oireachtas Award, the premier award for a new collection of poems as Gaeilge, four times. He is also the recipient of the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award 2000, the first Irish language poet to achieve that distinction.

His bilingual volume Agus Rud Eile de/And Another Thing was published recently by Cló Iar-Chonnachta.

Chris Agee was born in San Francisco but has lived in Ireland since 1979. He is the author of three books of poems and is currently completing a collection of essays, Journey to Bosnia. He reviews regularly for The Irish Times.

Chris Nikkel was born in Canada and moved to Ireland in 2003 to be with his wife. His work has been published in Canada, Ireland, and Britain. Moycullen’s Kevin O’Shea was shortlisted in the 2009 Over The Edge New Writer of The Year competition, and Marcella Morgan won this year’s Cúirt Poetry Grand Slam.
