Omniplex to screen new Irish supernatural thriller

NEW IRISH film, the supernatural thriller The Daisy Chain, goes on theatrical release tomorrow and it will be screened in The Omniplex, Galway.

Emotionally fragile mother Martha (Samantha Morton; Control, In America ) moves to a remote Irish village with her husband Tomas (Steven Mackintosh; Mo, Small Engine Repair ) following the tragic death of their baby daughter.

They take in a disturbed orphan called Daisy (Mhairi Anderson ). However a series of strange occurrences begin to be linked to the little girl, and Martha and Tomas begin to hear rumours from the locals that Daisy might be something far more malevolent than she seems...

The Daisy Chain is directed by Aisling Walsh (Song for a Raggy Boy ), written by Lauren Mackenzie (Pure Mule, Bachelors Walk, The Clinic ), and produced by Subotica Entertainment Ltd (Song for a Raggy Boy, Small Engine Repair ).

The film has been praised by Donald Clarke in The Irish Times for being “rich in atmosphere and good ideas” while the Raindance Film Festival said it “blends the supernatural with raw real-world emotions, wonderfully expressed by Samantha Morton”.
