Marking 30 years in business this year is one of Galway’s best known and most established businesses — CT Electric — situated on the Sean Mulvoy road between Dunnes Stores on the Headford Road and Tesco.
Manager Bill Doran explains how the store has managed to survive across three decades.
“We have a very simple structure. We are in Galway for 30 years. We are part of the Kellihers group with 25 stores around Ireland. We buy in bulk and sell at low prices. We don’t spend huge money on TV advertisement or massive stores. We have experienced staff who know their product and provide excellent customer care.
“Our product range varies from lighting products to DIY products and electrical products like switches and sockets, smoke alarms and energy saving products and camera systems,” he said.
With the recession affecting every household, everyone is watching their money more closely. This has had a very positive spin off for CT. Instead of going into DIY stores and expensive lighting showrooms customers are coming into CT Electric.
