Traditional Connacht rivals Galway and Mayo meet on Sunday (3.30pm ) in Milltown in round six of this year’s Bord Gais Energy NFL.
The JFC County Galway Ladies currently top division one with an unbeaten record after five matches. However they will be expecting a tough battle against their neighbours who are just two points behind in third place.
The Galway Ladies have shown considerable character in their last two games, fighting back in the second half against Cork to force a draw before prevailing over Laois in Ballinasloe by a single point.
Mayo come into this game on the back of a 2-8 to 0-12 defeat to Laois, and both teams will look to Sunday’s game as an opportunity to take full points, ensuring they are in the knock-out stages.
As a result the Milltown game promises to be an entertaining battle.
In other action, the u-14 Ladies Football Feile will be played next Saturday. Group A games in Annaghdown - Kilkerrin\Clonberne, Annaghdown, Milltown, St Michael’s; Group B venue is Carnmore - Corofin, Salthill\Knocknacarra, Dunmore, Barna; Group C venue is Claregalway - Claregalway, Glenamaddy\Williamstown, Tuam, St Brendan’s.
The first game will start at 10.30am at each venue, with the semi-finals at 3.30pm and final at 4.30pm in Carnmore.
