There will be a special Month's Mind Mass for John ffrench in the Augustinian Church on this Saturday at 6.30pm.
John ffrench passed away recently. His family were one of the Tribes of Galway, something of which he was intensely proud.
However John carved out a very special niche for himself in the Irish art world, as he is the person who introduced colour into Irish ceramics.
His wide travels greatly influenced his work, helping him to create imaginative and exotic shapes, and in so doing, to gain a world wide reputation. He was hugely influential, a constant encourager of young artists, and he will be greatly missed.
The mass will be celebrated by Fr Frank Larkin, Parish Priest of Doorus, and some members of John’s family will attend. All are welcome.
