The Mayoral Ball is back for 2010, after last year’s absence from Galway’s social calendar, and takes place on Saturday May 29.
The event has been announced by the Mayor of Galway Councillor Declan McDonnell and it will raise money for several local charities. Charities which wish to benefit from the night should write to the Mayors office in City Hall, College Road, as soon as possible. A committee has been formed to consider all requests.
“In choosing the charities, I will be trying to benefit people of all ages,” said Mayor McDonnell. “There has never been a more necessary time to raise funds for those less fortunate and I am delighted as Mayor to be in a position to give a boost to local charities who work so hard within our community.”
While this is one of the city’s “great social events” this is still a time of economic uncertainty. As a result, the Mayor is “appealing for people to support this event, which also promises to be a very enjoyable evening for all”.
Ticket and venue details will be announced soon.
