Former Underworld man for the GPO

FORMER UNDERWORLD member and now successful solo DJ Darren Emerson, will be spinning the decks at the GPO, Eglinton Street, this Saturday.

Born in Hornchurch, East London, Darren began his adventures in music by mixing hip-hop records at 14. By 16 was DJing regularly at local venues. He began to explore house music and quickly gained a reputation as a top DJ, playing clubs like The Milk Bar, Limelights, and Venus.

In 1990, Karl Hyde invited him to become the third member of techno band Underworld. Their 1993 album dubnobasswithmyheadman was their commercial breakthrough onto the British electronica scene. The 1996 single ‘Born Slippy’ became a massive hit, particularly with its inclusion on the Trainspotting soundtrack.

Darren parted ways with Underworld in 2000 to concentrate more on his solo career as a DJ, remixer, and owner of the Underwater label. He continued to release tracks by himself and new artists on the Underwater; host regular clubnights in Ibiza, work on his own material, and tour the world.
