Juliet Turner to play The Quays for ALâ

JULIET TURNER will play The Quays Bar, on Saturday October 11 at 7pm in a special fund-raising concert for ALâ Community Theatre.

Juliet Turner is rightly regarded as one of our Ireland’s finest singer-songwriters. Her fourth album, People Have Names, was released earlier this year and won high praise from the music press. The album explored such themes as loneliness, romance, and the contradictions of youth and age.

The Irish Times said of the album: “Turner’s palate for life’s sweet and salty moments has evolved, so her palette of sound has rumbled onwards as well, and her appreciation for life’s minor chords has grown.”

In its review, The Belfast Telegraph declared that Turner “has just made the album of her life”, while Hot Press called it “an intoxicating example of an adventurous artist moving forward”.

Turner is also celebrated as a great live artist due to her laid-back attitude and self-deprecating wit. She is a relaxed performer with a wicked sense of humour. Her voice is unusually clear and her between song anecdotes are amusing, eccentric, and off-the-cuff.

A very special guest, who we are not permitted to name as yet, will open for Juliet on the night.

ALâ was established in 2004 as a personal, social and community development organisation using community theatre and education as developmental tools. It advances equal opportunities for all and runs drama and developmental workshops in the Ballybane Community Resource Centre.

ALâ is currently offering four theatre skills workshops, culminating in public performances from November 19 to 22. It is also preparing an intercultural theatre workshop.

Tickets for Juliet Turner are available from Zhivago Shop Street; Wired Gaming, Upper Dominick Street; from Ann on 085 - 168 4438, and through [email protected].

The next ALâ fundraising concert at The Quays will be The Pale on Friday November 21 at 7pm.
