Job seekers who are determined to prepare and deliver a first class interview are being sought for a focus group to develop, assess and validate effective interviewing skills over a four-week period. The group will commence on Tuesday March 23 from 10am to 12 noon in a city centre hotel.
This is the brainchild of Galway man Seán Connaughton who is a part time lecturer in the GMIT where he delivers on Effective Communications and Human Resources. Mr Connaughton who has a proven track record in successful interviewing techniques is seeking 12 volunteers for this four-week focus group and promises that the sessions will be interesting, interactive and innovative.
Mr Connaughton wants to develop and produce a unique set of tools and techniques specially to help job seekers master the art of being interviewed.
“It’s important to have people who are actively seeking employment who will share their barriers, challenges and aspirations and who are willing to try a new approach with interviews.” The focus group will help Connaughton validate new material as well as offering concrete support for each group member who wishes to excel in their quest to make a serious impression with interviews.
Potential participants must be unemployed, genuinely seeking employment and willing to be available for four Tuesday mornings starting Tuesday March 23 from 10-12 noon as well as be willing to actively participate in the sessions.
Each participant will receive a certificate of completion, detailed notes from the programme and an award to mark their participation. They will also benefit hugely from their involvement said Seán. According to Mr Connaughton: “Interviews do not need to be daunting or traumatic, interviewers love people who make an effort and this focus group will allow participants to evolve with confidence and reach their potential in preparing for their all important interview as well as helping by being part of a unique programme.”
Participation is totally free of charge; refreshments will be served each morning. Interested participants should email [email protected] or contact Seán on 087 214 1282 to apply to participate.
