Funding secured for pedestrian lights on Barna Road

Funding totalling €25,000 has been secured to provide pedestrian controlled lights on the Barna Road near Knocknacarra Cross.

The money comes from the Department of Transport and will be included in the Galway City Council Roads Transportation Programme 2010.

The announcement of the grant was made at Monday’s city council meeting and was welcomed by Independent councillor Donal Lyons.

Cllr Lyons said he will continue to seek funding for pedestrian lights further out the Barna Road between the Ballymoneen and Cappagh Road junctions “for those who wish to avail of the amenity services in Lough Rusheen and in Lough Rusheen Amenity Park”.
