Cahergal to get major funding for flood prevention measures

A total of €50,000 for flood mitigation and prevention measures in Gortbeg, Cahergal, Tuam, has been allocated by the Office of Public Works.

Channel excavation will begin this week and will take approximately six weeks to complete. People in the area have been informed that the works will be taking place.

The news has been welcomed by Galway East Fianna Fáil TD Noel Treacy.

“The area was badly affected by the flooding last year and it was a very difficult time for everyone,” he said. “I am delighted we could secure an allocation of funds for these important works in the greater Cahergal area.”
