Cuddy calls for rest stops on new M6 motorway

Rest stops on the section of the M6 motorway in Galway must be provided by the National Roads Authority according to Independent councillor Jim Cuddy.

Cllr Cuddy said such rest stops are essential because apart from one being developed at Kinnegad, at the moment there is none between Galway and Dublin.

He also said they should have been developed in line with the construction of the motorway, but it is still “not too late to develop one in the west on the M6”.

“It is a very long journey between Galway and Dublin, particularly for parents of young children and a rest stop, like the ones you see in other countries, is essential,” he said.

“Now is also the time to start planning for rest stops on the new M18 between Limerick and Galway and I will be in contact with the NRA asking that this be done also.”
