Volkswagen Ireland has realigned its 2010 prices while adding extra standard equipment and finance through its Volkswagen Bank.
The move comes as part of a combined strategy which sees prices across the Volkswagen range lowered with extra standard equipment added to the majority of the model range.
For example, it says that prices on the popular Golf models have been reduced by 10 per cent while electronic stability control has been added across the range. It adds that prices for the Passat have fallen by 11 per cent while the Comfortline and Highline models also benefit from up to €1,500 additional specification.
Volkswagen is also offering pack options with leading technology on a majority of models with substantial consumer savings of up to 40 per cent against single options. The pack options are broken down into four categories – Safety, Comfort, Sport, and Media.
To enable Irish consumers gain access to credit facilities, Volkswagen Ireland in conjunction with Volkswagen bank is offering finance at 6.75 per cent APR. The bank, set up as a branch of the Volkswagen Bank in Germany, has a current approval rate of 67 per cent. It claims this puts Volkswagen in the enviable position of being the only car company in the Irish motor industry to offer consumers an opportunity to finance a car through its own bank at competitive rates.
The finance option combined with the price realignment comes at a significant time in the current motor industry and wider economy, and looks set to put Volkswagen in a strong position to increase its market share in 2010.
Volkswagen on Awards Roll
Volkswagen is enjoying an award winning end to 2009 by adding two further prestigious accolades to its repertoire. Recently launched to the Irish market, the new Polo has been announced as the European Car of the Year for 2010. That award follows last week’s win for the Volkswagen Golf which was honoured as the Irish Family Car of the Year for 2010 at the Continental Irish Car of the Year awards in Dublin.
Earlier this year Volkswagen received a huge global endorsement by being honoured with a number of worldwide accolades. The Volkswagen Golf was declared World Car of the Year for 2009 at the New York International Motor Show in May. Then in June the Volkswagen 1.4-litre TSI engine was announced as the International Engine of the Year along with being voted the Green Engine of the Year.

The string of high profile awards has crowned an extraordinary year for Volkswagen. Since its market launch in May of this year, Volkswagen has received more than 130,000 orders for the new benchmark car of the compact class.
