Galway Community Circus Christmas show

Galway Community Circus is hosting a Christmas Show on Sunday December 13 at 2.30pm at St Joseph’s Community Centre in Shantalla. It promises to be a spectacular event, showcasing a colourful array of circus skills learned by young people at weekly circus classes. Go and experience the magic of Christmas in the Galway Community Circus way.

Ireland’s first dedicated Youth Circus, Galway Community Circus has pioneered the teaching of circus arts to young people since 2002. Its aim is to create a space where people from diverse backgrounds can learn and share circus skills in a disciplined, professional, relaxed, and fun atmosphere.

Classes are run weekly for two age groups, eight to 12 year olds on Tuesdays, and 12 to 18 year olds on Wednesdays. Skills practised include juggling, unicycling, aerial acrobatics, and tightrope walking.

Galway Community Circus is not only for children and young people, for the first time this year it held an adult aerial acrobatics course. During the course participants learned how to climb ropes, hang from silks and swing from the trapeze. It is hoped that adult classes will continue in January. Join Galway Community Circusus on Bebo or Facebook to keep up to date.

Tickets for the Christmas show are €5 for adults, €2 for children under 16, and €12 for a family. There will also be refreshments on sale. All proceeds from the show will go towards ensuring the running costs of classes.
