Christmas cheer and seasonal tapas at Cava

Cava Spanish restaurant and tapas bar is celebrating the festive season in style this year. During the Christmas period, customers can enjoy a variety of seasonal menus and treats. The chefs at Cava have designed two set menus, which are available until January 6.

The first is the extremely popular Christmas tapas menu. In 2009, Cava invested a lot of time and enthusiasm into creating an extensive and top-quality tapas repertoire, which culminated in Tom Doorley (Irish Times ) proclaiming Cava to having the “best tapas in Ireland”. This Christmas, Cava showcases its best tapas in a lively set menu. Customers will start with a platter of specially selected Spanish cured meats and cheeses. This will be followed by a choice of three tapas from a carefully selected menu, including the very popular tortilla de patata and calamares and the more refined confit of pork belly and duck breast with plum and honey.

The second set menu is the Christmas dinner menu which combines the finest local produce with the best Spanish cooking Galway has to offer. In this menu, customers choose from a selection of starters including yellow beetroot and sweet potato soup, and organic salmon cured in fennel and pernod. This is followed by tempting main courses to include roasted wild pheasant with lentils, pancetta cassoulet, and pan-fried sea bass with chickpea and chorizo broth.

For both menus, customers will be greeted by the staff of Cava and shown to their table where they will find a delicious chocolate truffle and Cava reception awaiting them. While choosing their wine or beer, customers will receive a little something prepared by the chefs to whet their appetite. Between courses customers will enjoy a cooling sorbet to cleanse the palate. Finally, customers will have a choice of irresistible desserts to choose from, including the famous dark chocolate mousse, and bread and butter pudding with Pedro Ximenez.

Both menus present great value for money too at €39.

Cava is also providing a Christmas lunch menu including mulled wine, three course meal, and tea or coffee for €25. In addition this year Cava will open on both Christmas Eve (lunch only, 12noon to 4pm ) and on St Stephen’s Day (dinner only, 6pm to 10pm ). On both of these days, seasonal menus will be available, a three course set lunch menu on Christmas Eve, and a set tapas menu on St Stephen’s night. Booking for all of the above menus is necessary.
