Galway set for kickboxing bonanza

Donna Larkin to challenge for All Ireland title

The Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing club will promote its next full contact kickboxing event in the Black Box Theatre on Saturday, December 5, entitled "Seasons Beatings 2".

The card will feature 15 fights, including a K-1 rules bout between Galway’s Paul Huish (All Ireland Super Welterweight kickboxing champion ) against tough guy Malcolm Byrne from Dublin. A “white collar” boxing match will feature prominent local businessman Denis O' Connell (O' Connell Drylining and Eurobead ) against Sean Cronin, a company director from Cork.

One of Ireland’s top kickboxers, Galway’s Eric Daly, who is the current IKF All Ireland and Five Nations super lightweight champion and World silver medalist, will headline against tough Welsh kickboxing champion Martin Mainwaring from Cardiff.

Galway’s Donna Larkin will take on Kilkenny’s Ann Marie Bergin for the IKF All Ireland light welterweight title in what promises to be an all-out war, while one of Galway’s most exciting fighters, the unbeaten Gary Manogue, will take on Peter Gutzit from the Czech Republic in his first four-round contest.

Other local fighters include Romanian Alex Novac against former Irish champ John O' Shea from Kilkenny; Martin Murray versus Joe Fitzgerald from Kilkenny; Feidhlim Dunne versus Dylan O' Connor from Lismore; Emmet Bohan versus Chris Coyle from Donegal; Bryan Merrigan versus John Kelliher from Kilkenny; Shane Canavan versus Anthony Cooney from Thurles; ;James Ward versus Patrick Butler from Kilkenny; Amy Wilson (European champ ) versus Lindsey Doyle from Dublin; Niall Sheerin versus Shane McConnell from Waterford; and Nicky Collins (European champ & World ranked No 2 ) versus Chloe O' Brien from Waterford.
