Galway’s Whitney Huish claimed the official IKF All Ireland Ladies’ Bantamweight Kickboxing crown on Saturday night in Thurles.
In one of the headline fights, Huish, from the Black Dragon Gym overcame Joleen Riley from the home town. In an intense battle which went the full championship distance, Huish took the crown with a unanimous judges’ decision.
Galway’s Charlie Ward and England’s Chad Sugden got the chance for a face off ahead of their big IKF Junior World Title fight in England next Saturday, while Galway’s most well known fighter Cathal Manning (world ranked no 1 ) will also be in action in England. He is challenging IKF World light heavyweight champion Ashley Collins for the title in the main event of the night in what is being billed throughout the UK as a superfight between the two best amateur light heavyweights.
