St James collect third minor title

St James had a terrific win over Corofin last Saturday in the minor A final at Pearse Stadium. They won on a score-line of 1-11 to 1-07.

Sean Conroy's best performers on the day were Johnny Duane, Lee Vahey, Shane Coughlan and Michael Elwood. Wing-forward Seán Glynn scored a wonderful goal just before half-time and that was the crucial score of the game.

Johnny Duane was selected as man of the match and he is turning into a very fine footballer. Indeed based on the club games at any level that I have attended this season, he is proving to be one of the best prospects in the county.

Corofin will be disappointed, but they will surely acknowledge tthey were beaten by a more direct and better balanced side.

After winning minor titles in 2006, 2007, and now 2009, St James should have the talented players on their books to go up senior in the next season or two.
