Greek Embassy pledges help to Galway DJ’s grieving family

The grieving family of a Galway-based DJ, who was killed in a hit-and-run incident while holidaying over three months ago, are still seeking answers and have only now secured a pledge of support from the Greek Embassy.

Forty-year-old Philip McGettigan, originally from Letterkenny, Donegal, but who had been living and working as a DJ in Galway, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on the Greek island of Kaphos on July 19 this year. The popular DJ, who had been spending his second summer on the island, had been returning home from work on a motorcyle in the early hours when he was struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

The McGettigan family have been continuing their quest for justice since the tragedy occurred but the circumstances surrounding Philip’s death and the subsequent investigation still remain unclear. According to reports this week, the Greek Embassy has now pledged its support following an emotional appeal by the family.
