Hundreds of third-level students and graduates are expected to visit the GMIT Dublin Road campus next week for the annual GMIT careers and recruitment fair.
More than 70 employers will take stands at the event, representing companies in engineering, science, business, information technology, hotel and hospitality, and the arts.
Employment opportunities will be available along with services and information on placements, internships, and workshops, graduate programmes, postgraduate options, and volunteering options. Academic staff will also be on hand to answer queries.
“GMIT offers an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to over 7,000 students, so this is an ideal opportunity for employers to meet a large number of them in an informal setting,” said Bridie Killoran, GMIT careers officer.
“Despite the recession a large number of employers have signed up for the event this year. We have over 70 exhibitors and what I am hearing from employers is that they are still very interested in students and graduates in relation to opportunities within their organisations.
“They particularly like the idea of placement and internships as well as short term research projects. Employers say they also value our graduates’ skills, as our students follow academically rigorous programmes but also gain excellent practical skills.”
The GMIT careers and recruitment fair will have an educational focus this year, with particular emphasis on postgraduate studies in Ireland and abroad. The fair will take place from 12 noon to 3pm in the GMIT Dublin Road campus on Thursday October 29.
The GMIT careers office is committed to working with employers. To advertise job vacancies in your company, e-mail job specifications to [email protected] for inclusion in weekly careers newsletters distributed among GMIT graduates and students.
