Aer Arann has launched an investigation into an incident at Manchester Airport yesterday in which the propeller of one of its aircraft was damaged when it hit a docking guidance as it was parking.
According to an official statement Aer Arann has confirmed that an incident involving flight RE 515 from Galway occurred at Manchester Airport at approximately 11.45am yesterday. The aircraft, which had been arriving from Galway, had landed and made contact with the docking guidance mirror as it parked on a stand at the airport’s Terminal 1.
The statement went on to say that damage was caused to the propeller which was rotating slowly at the time and as a precaution the airport fire service attended the scene. There were 32 passengers and four crew members on board at the time but there were no injuries and all passengers left the aircraft normally.
The airline confirmed that the airport operations were not affected by the incident. A replacement aircraft was dispatched from Dublin Airport and Aer Arann also sent engineers and customer service personnel to Manchester.
