Autumn/winter trends from Style Plus

Autumn is here and it’s time to get out the warmer pieces that have been hiding in the back of your wardrobe since the end of April, and invest in a few key pieces to get you stylishly through the winter.

Boots

A pair of boots are a great buy and will give a funky twist to many of your regular outfits. Occasion wear pieces become fun and funky and leggings and tunics are finished with a knee high or ankle boot. You could even wear cropped trousers with the right boot, expanding the shelf life of your summer wardrobe.

Buy a comfortable heel because you will really wear them all season long.

Hosiery

Stock up on tights and trouser socks to give variety to your look. Heavy tights make any leg look like a million dollars and allow you to go with the hemline, or put them under your cropped trousers and team with boots. There is a variety of knee highs and trousers socks out there — fishnet, lace, pastels, neutrals — the options are limitless.

Black long-sleeved top

Of course any colour can work, but a black long-sleeved top is an excellent investment. As with any top, you can wear it on its own and dress up with strands of beads, scarf, or other accessories. Think about putting this piece under some of your sleeveless summer pieces for a different look.

Have a strappy dress that you love? Pop a long-sleeved tee under and you can transition into winter.

Layer it up

When it gets really cold you can work the layered look with many of your key pieces — cardigans, camis, long sleeved tops, leggings under dresses and skirts. These are all options that you can use to look hot in winter. All shapes and sizes can wear this look it is all about proportion — experiment and push the envelope.

This season Style Plus is stocking wide-calf fitting boots. Style Plus, Main Street, Oranmore, has a handpicked collection of clothing sizes 16 to 32 that have been handpicked from the US and Europe and as a rule will be generously cut, on trend, key investment pieces with classic flattering shapes, designed specifically with curves in mind.
