Cork force replay for Galway

Cork 2-9

Galway 0-15

Galway intermediate camogie players have it all to do again, and more, when they face Cork on October 10 after their Gala All-Ireland final ended in a draw on Sunday.

It was a harsh blow for Galway, who looked to be heading for a well deserved trophy, but the Rebelettes forced the replay with a late goal from Marie Walsh at the Gaelic Grounds.

Galway had done all the work, having come from behind at the break to take a four-point lead. A free from Michelle Browne reduced the deficit with just three minutes remaining, but when Niamh Dilworth created the opportunity, Walsh capitalised, and the added time goal proved Cork’s saviour.

With the wind behind them in the opening half, Cork had led 1 - 7 to 0 - 7 at the break, courtesy of a goal from Eimer Watson just before the break. However Galway dominated the second half, with Killimor’s Martina Conroy’s accuracy putting Galway into a deserved lead.
