Linda Welby is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and a mother of eight children, who has just released her debut album A Story To Tell on LAW records.
Originally from Loughrea, Linda now lives in Roscahill. Her recent single ‘The Galway Fiddler’ enjoyed regular airplay on Irish radio stations, as well as on BBC Wales, BBC Oxford, BBC Manchester, and in Canada and New York.
“I sing and play because I love it,” she says. “I like to keep things as normal as possible in my life because that is just the way I am. I always loved words, even from a young age. So writing my own album came naturally.”
Linda is from a musical family. Her grandfather Paddy Doorhy was an accomplished fiddle player and played with the first Ballinakill Ceili Band. Her father, also Paddy Doorhy, played drums and toured extensively with bands and musicians including accordion player Joe Burke.
Linda will appear in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on October 7 as part of the Midwest Radio Night of the Stars concert. Go to www.lindawelby.com
