Joyce’s supermarket group to join Q mark hygiene and safety programme

Family-run business, the Joyce’s Supermarket Group, is to join the Q Mark for Hygiene and Food Safety system, a nationally recognised, accredited programme offered by Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA ).

The programme provides a framework to ensure organisations not only meet but exceed the legal requirements for food safety management while providing guidance on continuous improvement and best practice.

“At Joyce’s Supermarkets customers are at the core of our business,” says Pat Joyce, Joyce’s Supermarket Group. “We strive to consistently offer the highest standards of quality and service to our customers and we believe participation in a nationally accredited programme such as the Q Mark for Hygiene and Food Safety programme will further demonstrate our ongoing commitment to excellence.”

The Joyce family has been involved in the grocery business since 1951 when Patrick C Joyce senior set up a village grocery in Headford, Co Galway. His son, Pat Joyce, took over in 1979 and went on to develop the family business, opening stores in Knocknacarra and Athenry.

Joyce’s Supermarkets, which employ more than 250 people, place strong emphasis on customer service and providing quality, locally sourced and reasonably priced goods.

The EIQA is Ireland’s national quality organisation and the leading professional association for the advancement of quality practices and business improvement.

Established more than 40 years ago, it offers Q Mark programmes across all industries, including Q Mark for Hygiene and Food Safety, Quality Management Systems, Standard of Care Nursing Homes and Leisure Centres. Customers include public, private and not-for-profit organisations.
