Interpro title up for grabs at Connacht Open Day

An interprovincial championship title is up for grabs when Connacht Youths play their Leinster counterparts at the Galway Sportsground on Saturday (1pm ).

The match will form the centre-piece of Saturday’s Connacht Rugby Open Day at the venue, which is free to the public.

Connacht, captained by Aaron Conneely, produced a sparkling display to beat Munster last weekend by 29 - 3, while the u-20s also came up trumphs over their southern rivals with a deserved 19 - 15 win. Captained by Conneely’s brother Shane, the best of the Connacht academy overcame Munster with a tenacious and tireless work performance up front and a moment of class from Tiernan O’Halloran in the second half.

The Connacht Rugby Open Day in aid of Special Olympics Ireland kicks off at 12 noon. Events are planned for all members of the family, including bouncing castles, obstacle courses, and kicking and try-scoring competitions.

The Connacht squad will be in attendance throughout the afternoon with a series of events planned for all members of the family.

Free car parking will also be available at the Sportsground.
