Countdown begins to Galway Culture Night

The second Galway Culture Night takes place on Friday September 25 with a host of free events, shows, exhibitions, and performances taking place throughout the city.

Galway Culture Night aims to showcase Galway’s rich cultural fabric along with cultural institutions throughout the city and ultimately make the arts accessible to absolutely everyone - enthusiasts and novices alike.

Artspace Studios, Lorg Printmakers, Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, the Galway Arts Centre, the Galway City Museum, The Kenny Gallery, National University of Ireland, Galway, St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, the Nuns Island Studio, Galway City Library, the Forge in New Road, and the Galway University Hospital have already confirmed their involvement.

Venues and institutions will extend their normal opening times and members of the public are invited to attend the workshops, displays, performances, readings, and recitals.

There will be performances by Con Tempo, Galway Early Music, and the Galway Chamber Choir, readings from poets Michael O’Loughlin and Gerry Hanberry, and visual art from the Engage, Artspace, Lorg, and 126.

Bus Éireann has also agreed to offer a complimentary bus service on the night, running from Ballybane to Barna, in order to encourage people to come into the city.
