Host a pizza party and help people with disabilities

Action Week on Disability takes place this month, and one Galway company is already planning to promote pizza parties in aid of Enable Ireland.

Galway entrepreneur Pat McDonagh, who owns Papa John’s, is hoping people will get behind his party scheme which will see his company donate 35 per cent of every order to Enable Ireland. McDonagh says the concept is simple.

“ We are asking people to invite their friends, families, neighbours, or colleagues to a pizza party at which guests donate €5. Party hosts can then ring or drop into the local Papa John’s store, have their order delivered, and 35 per cent of the total value of the order will be donated back to Enable Ireland.

“We are delighted to play a positive role in the lives of people with disabilities and hope everybody will enter into the spirit of this worthy cause.”

Action Week on Disability runs from Septmber 14 to 19 and aims to highlight the importance of social and leisure activities for all, encouraging the full inclusion of people with disabilities in every community in Ireland.

Joanne Murphy, regional community fundraising manager for Enable Ireland says in hosting or attending a Pizza Party, people will be actively contributing to the physical, educational, and social development of people with disabilities.
