Film Centre courses

GALWAY FILM Centre’s programme of courses and workshops for autumn/winter 2009 is now available. It is aimed at those who want to learn a new skill, explore their creativity, or have a story they want to tell through film.

A seven weekend film foundation course or a four weekend documentary making course give participants the chance to make a short film or documentary while learning the basic skills of filmmaking.

There is an evening class on how to use i-stop motion for Wallace and Gromit style animation, as well as an introduction to filmmaking for beginners. From Idea to Script is a writing course for those who have a story to tell, but want to learn how to write the idea for the screen.

The aim of all courses is that participants continue to make films long after the course has finished. The work done during the course can be used as part of a portfolio for work or college.

All courses are tutored by experienced fimmakers and class sizes are limited to ensure everyone gets hands-on experience. A public screening of the films made during the courses is held in Galway city in December and is an excellent way to meet other filmmakers and showcase your work
