“Exciting and eclectic” is how Galway Civic Trust describes its festival which will mark Heritage Week which runs from August 22 to 30.
“The programme includes a range of walks, talks and presentations on subjects as diverse as historic Galway, wild herbs, fish poaching and astronomy,” explains a spokesperson.
“There are also some family events as well a very special harp and poetry performance with Kathleen Loughnane and Moya Cannon on Sunday August 23 to look forward to. Also thrown into the festival mix for good measure is a table quiz and country heritage cycle. With the exception of the table quiz all events are once again free - a recession busting festival for sure!”
The annual Heritage Week lecture which takes place on Monday August 24 will be given by local historian, lecturer and author Dr John Cunningham.
