Arctic Monkeys release new single through Oxfam Ireland

THE ARCTIC Monkeys will release their new single, ‘Crying Lightning’, through Oxfam Ireland’s shops in Cork, Ennis, Dublin, and Galway.

The limited-edition 7”, which is the first single from new album Humbug, features a cover of Nick Cave’s ‘Red Right Hand’ as a B-side. It will cost €3.99 and each single will come with a download code, allowing fans to get an MP3 version of the songs for free. Proceeds from the single will go towards Oxfam’s lifesaving work in east, central, and southern Africa.

Domino and Arctic Monkeys are also calling on music fans to bring in any unwanted albums or singles to their local Oxfam shop when they pick up their copy of the single.

Last year the 48 Oxfam shops across Ireland raised more than €300,000 through music sales, enough to fund its entire programme in Kitgum, Northern Uganda. The programme is assisting people who have lived in camps for the last 10 years to return to their home villages and rebuild their lives and livelihoods.

‘Crying Lightning’ will be available on Friday August 14 in Oxfam Galway, Abbeygate House, 9 Lower Abbeygate Street. For more information contact 091 - 561491 or email [email protected]
