The Galway Races are the highlight of Galway’s social calendar, but it is not always as glamorous as it may seem. Drinking from a plastic cup as you get your high heels stuck in the mucky ground and try to shield your just out of the salon hair from the brutal wind and rain that is often the norm for our Irish summer, where’s the fun in that? So Galway’s funkiest hotel, The Twelve in Bearna, has come up with a way for you to experience all the excitement and drama of a day at the races, with the best of food, drink, entertainment, betting, and high fashion in the hotel’s luxurious, and more importantly, warm and dry, surroundings.
The Twelve will hold a special Ladies Day on Thursday July 30 with cocktails, a Pimms barbecue, betting, and to top it all off shopping. All of Galway’s favourite boutiques will be setting up shop in the style room of The Twelve Hotel; Les Jumelles, Design House Bearna, Premolli Shoes, Babóg, and Aine Wade Jewellery. Barna Pharmacy in conjunction with Ren will be carrying out free skin analysis using a facial scanner. Style Council will also be on hand for friendly and personal style consultations.
Of course Ladies’ Day would not be Ladies’ Day without a competition for ‘Best Dressed Lady’ (and gent ) so all are invited to dress up and grace the red carpet in The Twelve while Style Council will be looking for style, sophistication, and a little bit of something different. With a host of fabulous prizes including a night in the luxurious Suite XII in The Twelve, you had better get your best hats out ladies. The whole show is under starting orders for 3pm. The races will be shown on large screens inside and outside The Twelve, and your bets will be handled by The Twelve’s runner. Mouth-watering food will be available from the barbecue, and whether you fancy a Guinness or a Pimms cocktail, The Pins Bar will be happy to serve it to you in style while a DJ will be playing great music until the wee hours.
