The second installment of REPS 4 payments for 2008 is to be paid to farmers in County Galway this week, according to local Fianna Fáil Dáil deputy Noel Treacy TD.
“Farmers who joined REPS 4 in 2007 and 2008 will receive the second installment of their REPS 4 payment, starting from this week. The payments will be delivered to some 11,000 farmers around the country, and this will amount to €12 million. The same farmers will be eligible for a further €70 million in respect of this year,” said Treacy adding “The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food received another 17,000 applications for REPS 4 by the closing date of May 15 and those farmers, too, will be eligible for payment this year. Minister Smith informed me that he is confident that future REPS 4 payments can be released without any undue delay following a review of the procedures for processing applications and payments last year,” Deputy Treacy concluded.
