The new Garda substation for Ballybane will help deter crime and provide necessary services to the local community according to Fine Gael councillor Brian Walsh.
At Monday’s city council meeting, councillors were asked to dispose of the Unit 4 Garda Station, Ballybane Neighbourhood Village, Ballybane, to The Commissioner of Public Works. The unit will become a new Garda substation for the area.
Cllr Walsh welcomed the development saying it is a “very positive addition to the area”.
“The substation will give the area a strong Garda presence which will deter crime and provide necessary services,” Cllr Walsh told the Galway Advertiser. “It means people will not have to go into Mill Street to make applications or apply for passports but can do it locally
