Galway's enduring appeal

When asked what is most appealing about the area where they sell houses, our local estate agents wax lyrical about the beauty of Galway and its hinterland, and outline many of the reasons why people are so keen to buy in this region. Galway Tourism could not put it any better.

Colm O’Donnellan outlines his view that Galway has to be the most attractive place to live.

"When you are surrounded by the most incredible coastline with the jewel of the Salthill Promenade. In conjunction, you have the university in the heart of the city with the unspoiled River Corrib. Galway has always been the most attractive place to live in, it provides a quality of life which surpasses any other area in Ireland. They say when you move to Galway, you never want to move out.”

In similar vein, Kyle O’Brien describes selling property in Galway city as: “highly appealing due to its strategic location, with easy access to major motorways and transport links like the M6 and M18, connecting the city to Dublin and Limerick".

"It's thriving economy, supported by multinational companies, strong employment, and two prestigious universities, adds to its appeal. The stunning coastline and vibrant docklands, along with ongoing developments, make it an exciting investment. Galway’s rich history, culture, and popularity as a tourist destination further enhance its charm, making it a dynamic and desirable place to live and invest.”

Olivia Lynch said the most appealing aspect of living in the Galway area is the perfect mix of city convenience and natural beauty.

"Galway offers a unique blend of vibrant culture, rich history and an abundance of cafes, shops, galleries, and traditional music, while still being surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, including beaches, lakes, and rugged countryside. Galway also has a lovely strong sense of community, excellent local amenities, and proximity to both urban and natural environments make it an ideal place to buy a property.”

Sheelagh McGann highlights its coastal location and access to major employment centres as very strong selling points.

Martin O’Connor said it is the stories that are most appealing: “It's great to meet so many buyers that have relocated and hearing the stories about how we guided them to certain locations and helped them with the move and getting them into schools and getting them builders etc and making the move easy.”

Deirdre D'Arcy also had praise for Galway: “Living in Galway city and selling houses in Galway City allows you to provide invaluable knowledge and a genuine appreciation of all that this vibrant city has to offer. It is great to be able to chat to buyers and sellers about the location, the facilities and generally be up to speed on everything that is happening around you.”

Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?
