With a sound that fuses swing, rockabilly, country, blues, and soul, Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra will perform in the Backstage Venue at Monroe’s Live on Friday, April 4 at 7:30pm.
Their fast-paced, high-energy rhythm has been making waves across Europe, with their brand of ‘North Eastern’ swing.
Frontman, Rob Heron, is a songwriter and musician with a voice that has been described as a cross between Tom Waits and Hank Williams. He is a vinyl obsessive, always fired up about some new passion, but mostly enthusing about obscure blues and country 45s, and that eclecticism and search for new sounds certainly feeds into his songs.
Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra's story began over a decade ago when they met while studying at Newcastle University. Since then, they have carved out a name for themselves on the international Americana scene, touring with renowned acts like Pokey LaFarge and The Dead South.
They have also graced the prestigious stages of Glastonbury and the Cambridge Folk Festival, bringing their genre-blending sound. Their most recent sixth album ‘Feet First’ was recorded in just two days at Lightning Recorders in Berlin.
With acclaimed studio albums under their belt, their ability to mix classic country, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly results in a foot-stomping experience.
It is no surprise that Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra is hailed as Newcastle’s finest swing-honkytonk-rockabilly band and praised for their ability to evoke the spirit of Bob Wills and Django Reinhardt.
Expect a night of high-energy, dancefloor-filling tunes as Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra bring their distinctive sound to Monroe’s Live.
