Galvian Way brings high-energy trad to Monroe’s Live for St Patrick’s Day

Galvian Way.

Galvian Way.

Galway’s very own Galvian Way will take to the stage at Monroe’s Live on St Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17, from 7pm, with a fast-paced, exhilarating trad performance that captures the heart and soul of Irish culture.

This stellar line-up features Paul McClure on bodhrán, Maidhc Ó hÉanaigh on flute, Declan Corey on mandolin, and Ger Clancy, Seosamh Ó Fátharta, and Mick Clancy on fiddle, along with dancer Ailbhe Davoren.

Taking their name from ‘Galvia’, the mythical daughter of King Breasal who gave Galway its name, Galvian Way represents the spirit of the city—a love for culture, the Irish language, music, the arts, and the joy of great company.

Formed in the summer of 2022, Galvian Way began as a special collaboration for a commemorative concert marking the twinning of Lorient and Galway.

Their unique fusion of styles—Connemara, Clare, and Ulster traditions—quickly gained attention, leading to performances at major festivals, including the Interceltic Festival of Lorient, where they made history as the first Irish band in over two decades to win the prestigious Loïc Raison Award in 2023.

Galvian Way members have long been part of the Irish trad scene.

Seosamh Ó Fátharta, Maidhc Ó hÉanaigh, and Mick Clancy performed together as Cogar for over twenty years, frequently joined by Paul McClure during their European tours.

Their collaboration with West Clare fiddler Ger Clancy and Tyrone virtuoso Declan Corey in 2022 brought together regional influences to create a fresh take on traditional music.

Don’t miss this chance to experience one of Galway’s most exciting trad groups live on stage for St Patrick’s Day at Monroe’s Live.

Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost €12.
