Toyota closed out January as the best-selling car brand in Ireland for the fifth consecutive year.
Toyota sold 5,354 passenger vehicles in the first month of 2025, which was over 1,500 units ahead of the closest competitor.
Five Toyota models have been named in the top 10 best-selling models in January; the Yaris Cross, RAV4, Corolla, Toyota C-HR and Yaris.
The brand’s hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric vehicles accounted for 96.2 per cent of its passenger car sales last month.
Overall, in Irish car sales, petrol hybrid and petrol plug-in hybrid sales had a strong start in January, capturing a combined market share of 39.05 per cent.
Battery electric vehicles market share increased to almost 15 per cent.
Drivers are increasingly opting for Petrol Plug-In Hybrids, as their January market share surged by 61.6 per cent to reach 14.16 per cent. Diesel sales decreased by almost 20 per cent (19.97 per cent ), confirming the continued demand for low CO2 and NOx emission cars.
January also saw the Toyota C-HR surpass one million sales across Europe and over 20,000 in Ireland. Since launching in 2016, the C-HR Hybrid has been a landmark model for Toyota.

January’s success follows Toyota’s exceptional performance in 2024, where the brand secured a 14.5% market share, with six models featuring in the top 15 best-sellers.
