Some forty-six years after the launch of the first Renault 5 Turbo, Renault is set to revive the sporting icon with a modern, electric take on the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the 1980s.

Said to be a world first, Renault is using a new documentary on Prime Video, 'Anatomy of a Comeback', to reveal a new production vehicle.

Right at the end of the fourth episode, viewers follow Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, Fabrice Cambolive, CEO Renault brand, and Gilles Vidal, VP of Renault Design, on a visit to the Design Department to see the future Renault 5 Turbo 3E, confirmed by de Meo as an upcoming production model.

Like its predecessor, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will have a rear-wheel drive layout. The two electric motors housed in the rear wheels will deliver instant power to each wheel, for total output of more than 500 bhp. The French automaker says the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
