Readings in the city

THE ACCLAIMED Derry poet Colette Bryce and the playwright and novelist Miriam Gallagher will be reading at two different literary events in Galway next week.

Over The Edge

The September Over The Edge takes place in the Galway City Library on Thursday September 25 at 6.30pm.

The main reader is Colette Bryce, originally from Derry but now lives in Newcastle upon Tyne. She has published three poetry collections with Picador and won the UK National Poetry Competition in 2003 and the Cardiff International in 2007.

The other readers are Orla Higgins and Des Kavanagh. There will be an open-mic slot. New readers are welcome. The MC will be Susan Millar DuMars. For more information contact 087 - 6431748.

Miriam Gallagher

Playwright and novelist Miriam Gallagher will read for the Western Writers’ Centre at the Galway Civic Museum on Friday September 26 at 1pm.

Miriam’s work has been staged and screened in Europe and North America and translated into many languages. Her plays include Fancy Footwork and Kalahari Blues. Her novel Song for Salamander was published in 2004. Her film Gypsies was screened at the International Children’s Film Festival, Hyderabad, India.
