Christmas in Clifden announces its festival dates for 2024

Christmas in Clifden 2024 takes place over two weekends this year, November 29-December 1 and December 6-8. The capital of Connemara will host another jam-packed schedule of festive family entertainment and events including kids clubs, wreath and gift-making workshops, festive wine-tasting, food events, Christmas markets, concerts, movies, shopping discounts and seasonal hotel offers.

The festival will launch on the evening of Friday November 29 with the switching on of the Christmas lights by very special guests, followed by a street party for all the family in the heart of Clifden on the Square with MC Aoife Mac (Singalongsocial ) hosting kids choirs and performances. There will be Christmas tunes, hot drinks and food trucks and Santa will be available for chats and photographs with the little ones. Shops will be open late both weekends, all adding to the magical atmosphere.

Amanda Burke, co-Chair of the Christmas in Clifden committee said Clifden sparkles during the Christmas season, full of warm Connemara welcome.

"The community wants to share that cosy atmosphere with our friends and visitors, and after the huge success of last year’s festival we are thrilled to announce a very exciting programme of events and experiences for 2024. This year we have some extra-special fun things planned like a Santa Pint Relay and a Whiskey Masterclass," she said.

"Clifden is also a great place to shop - our lovely shops are full of original gift ideas, amazing Irish and international brands and seasonal discounts. Parking is free and convenient, and the bus timetable to and from Galway city has recently much improved.

"Our restaurants and pubs are full of crackling fires, festive atmosphere and great food. Why not make a weekend of it? Hotels are offering seasonal discounts and our famous music pubs will have live music and craic both weekends. Please keep an eye on our website www.christmas-in-clifden.com and our socials for updates and details on how to book events. We can’t wait to welcome you," she concluded.
