Iarla Ó Lionáird and Tim Edey

Iarla Ó Lionáird has carved a long and unique career in music both internationally and in Ireland.

From his iconic early recording of the vision song ‘Aisling Gheal’ as a young boy, to his ground-breaking recordings with Dublin's Crash Ensemble and New York’s Alarm Will Sound, he has shown a breadth of artistic ambition that sets him apart in the Irish Music fraternity.

The twice Grammy-nominated artist will play a singular performance at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church in Galway city on Tuesday, 12 November, at 7.30pm.

Ó Lionáird has worked with a stellar cast of composers including Donnacha Dennehy, Dan Trueman, Kate Moore, Nico Muhly, Linda Buckley, Gavin Bryars and David Lang. He has performed and recorded with luminaries Peter Gabriel, Nick Cave, Robert Plant and Sinead O'Connor. His unique singing style has carried him to stages and concert halls all over the world, from New York's Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House and beyond.

Next Tuesday, November 12, Ó Lionáird will be joined by Tim Edey. Edey is a double BBC Musician of the year, BBC Scotland Best Traditional Musician 2020, and BBC Radio Two Musician of the year 2012. Edey has toured the world and recorded with most of the major names in Celtic and contemporary roots music including The Chieftains, Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon, Ross Ainslie, Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy, Altan, Capercaillie, Brendan Power, Michael McGoldrick, and Seamus Begley.
