The latest new Mercedes-Benz model to arrive on Irish roads is the T-Class, a five-seat passenger carrier developed on the same platform as the highly successful, diesel-powered Citan, current holder of the Continental 'Irish Van of the Year 2024' award.

Described by Mercedes-Benz as another addition to its premium model portfolio, it is aimed directly at families and what the brand calls "leisure enthusiasts with active lifestyles". The new T-Class is said to score on numerous fronts, not least in its visually larger appearance when viewed against the Citan.

With space for five, two in front and three in the rear, Mercedes-Benz says the T-Class offers stacks of loading space for leisure and sports enthusiasts. Side sliding doors, on left and right sides, provide quick and easy passenger entry and exit, as well as flexible loading options.

Matching contemporary design with an extensive array of safety equipment and versatile connectivity, the T-class tags multi-functionality and a huge amount of space to a high-end level of equipment. Included in the offering is a comprehensive range of standard safety items, including an electric parking brake, seven airbags, and numerous driving assistance systems.

An interior centrepiece is Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX system with its acclaimed infotainment system, driver guidance and assistance features, data provision and connectivity to which the S-Class and other 'three-pointed-star' limousine owners are accustomed. An extensive choice of optional features includes items such as 17-inch light-alloy wheels, keyless-go, ambient lighting, and man-made leather seat upholstery to name some.

Prices begin at €42,530, including taxes, for the T 160 d Style model with a four-cylinder, 1461cc diesel engine. Available to order is an extra-long seven-seater T180 petrol version in which the seven seats are a standard fitment.
