A health and wellbeing event will be held in Athenry on October 25. The event will take place in Raheen Woods Hotel.

This event is a collaboration between the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP ) team from Galway Rural Development (GRD ) and Galway Sports Partnership (GSP ). The event will offer ways to improve individual health, heart checks from Croí, diabetes screenings from Total Health Pharmacy and stands for sports clubs in the area.

Chairperson of GRD Cllr Pete Roche said, “Working with organsations like ALONE, Alzheimer’s Ireland, COPE, Mental Health Ireland, and others, the SICAP team are having a real impact and this promises to be a great gathering."

SICAP manager Dr Anne Cassidy added, “This is an opportunity for attendees to meet and link-in with the many different agencies focused on health and wellbeing, all under one roof. I’m proud to say that we’ve led the way with these events across the country and they have done much to showcase the options available from social prescribing, to mental health supports, to sporting options.”
