The second year of the Daniel Megahey 5-a-side Memorial Cup will be held in Drom Soccer Park on Sunday, October 27 from 1pm to 8pm. This fundraising event is in support of The Galway Hospice and The Brain Tumour Foundation.
After being diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2020, Daniel Megahey died in September 2023, at just 22-years-old. He spent the last two months of his life in the care of The Galway Hospice Foundation. Here, the staff and volunteers of The Galway Hospice went above and beyond to care for Daniel, his family and friends.
In recognition of this care and Daniel's love for soccer, Daniel’s friends got together and organised the inaugural Daniel Megahey 5-a-side Memorial Cup. Last year’s event was a huge success, with more than 140 players raising over €20,000 for The Galway Hospice.
To enter a 5-a-side team into the event is a cost of €175 per team (€25 per player ). All funds raised through team entry will be donated to The Galway Hospice Foundation. There will also be a raffle held as part of the event with all funds raised going towards The Brain Tumour Foundation.
